The song quickly took hold and "in 1955, a group of 180 teenagers of different races and religions . . . locked arms, formed a circle, and sang a song of peace." The book, amidst the vibrant swirling art work, carries the lyrics and more than twelve international symbols of peace.

This book is a beautiful tribute to the composers and their vision for peace, a peace Jill felt started with the individual. In the back of the book there are descriptions of twelve peace symbols scattered throughout the book. There is mistletoe (Scandinavian), grass (Eastern African), the loon (Pacific Northwestern America), the dove (universal), the palm tree (Middle Eastern), the women in white (Cuba), Yin and Yang (China), the white poppy (British Commonwealth), the doe (Tibet), the turtle (South Pacific), the crane (Japan), and the lion and the lamb (Mediterranean). This amazing book is accompanied by a twelve-track CD. The first track is a vocal of the theme song, the last is an instrumental. The music and lyrics are printed in the back of the book.
