Lyricist V3 - The Songwriter's Best Friend - Songwriting and Chord Charting Software

I love this product. The bottom line is that I've been using this product since version 1 and would now be lost without it. The learning curve is short and the product's interface is intuitive and easy to use. If I'm away from the program for weeks or even months at a time, I have no problem picking up where I left off. Compared to some notation software I've used in the past, this product is a blessing. Lyricist is not notation software so if you're looking to notate your songs, again, this product isn't for you, however, if you're like me - a songwriter who just needs to chord chart songs and arrangements, polish off lyrics and rhymes, archive the song for later use, and then go off to develop another song idea, then this product was made for you. Lennon and McCartney probably would have loved this tool since they, like many songwriters out there work the same way. On the other hand, if you are one of those people who are looking for a product that writes the song for you, then Lyricist is not for you.
Lyricist let's you write songs using your own methods, and, for me, for the last 35 years, that's using a guitar and/or keboard armed with a pen and paper. In a songwriting session, I'll usually come up with an idea and develop it. If it starts to work, I might write a verse or two, a chorus, bridge, mark it up with some chord symbols, and rough out an arrangement. By the end of the session, I'll usually have a few pieces of paper with lots of scribble, but, somewhere in that scrible is the next mega Billboard hit. This is where Lyricist shines. When the session ends, at my leisure, I'll take my idea from paper and type it into Lyricist. Lyricist really is a songwriter's wordprocessor with all the features you'd expect, copy/paste, speller, thesaurus, rhyming dictionary, chord wizards, and automated transposition. In the end, you might even want to convert your arrangement to the Nashville Number System, and the Lyricist Transposition feature does that in a breeze. Usually within an hour, I have some very neat polished lyrics, a song chordchart and arrangement in the desired key, and a printout of the song. At this time, I'm ready to go on to the next idea or keep working on the existing song. Either way, I'm secure in knowing that Lyricist has catagorized and archived my compositions in a safe secure database located on my PC.
Hey, I'm not saying that Lyricist couldn't be improved. Personally, I'd like to see support for bass notes over chords and support for alternate tunings, but, I can still do 90% of my songs using the current Lrycist featureset. To my good fortune, VSS has promised to include the above features in V4, so, after that's done, I don't think I'll have anything to complain about. I can't thank VSS enough for giving me the best friend a songwriter could ever have. I love this product.

Even though I have changed my address several time with you, once again, you gave a seller the wrong address and, after weeks, I still haven't received the product. And, of course, this is not one of the issues Amazon makes it easy to deal with online.
So the service stinks.

Ultimate Beginner Series: Flute 1 (1998) Review

Ultimate Beginner Series: Flute 1 (1998)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This video is strictly for beginners. It starts with taking the flute out of the case and putting it together, to some minor notes. It does cover some basic music theory, covering notes, rests, how to read basic music and does have three songs but is not very clear in the order of notes that you should play. For a VERY beginner age level 3rd grade and up. It is a low budget film even though it is from Warner Bros.

Farley's Pocket Tones PT-16 Chromatic F Tuner Review

Farley's Pocket Tones PT-16 Chromatic F Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After a dramatic (and quite embarrassing) failure with our gospel quartet's reed pitchpipe, it was time for an update/upgrade -- and the Farley's Pocket Tones got the job. So far, I'm pleased with the overall functionality, although the tone could be more aesthetically pleasing. It has all the timbre of a smoke alarm -- which is to say, it's a pure tone without any overtones. For the money, it can't be beat ... but I'd have paid a few more bucks to get a more subtle/pleasing/unobtrusive tonality.

Solo Repertoire For The Young Pianist, Book 1 Review

Solo Repertoire For The Young Pianist, Book 1
Average Reviews:

I teach adults who are brand new to the piano and this is a great book for them to begin learning "real" songs. It's easy enough for beginner piano students and helps them build quickly on the skills and techniques they are learning. It's a lot more fun than the scales and chords I also make them learn!

26 Italian Songs and Arias CD Voice Ed. John Glenn Paton Review

26 Italian Songs and Arias CD Voice Ed. John Glenn Paton
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This edition is generally thought to supplement, or even replace the old G. Schirmer "Twenty-Four Italian Songs and Arias of the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries." The repertoire is almost identical, however there is much more information in this edition, such as literal, word for word translations for each song. . This alone makes it an extremely useful and invaluable tool for classical singers. The original manuscript is also included for many of the songs.
This edition also contains pronunciation guides, background information about each song and composer and the "poetic thought" behind each song. There are also suggestions for style-appropriate ornamentation for each song, although the ornamentation is written in smaller notes alongside of the melodic line and is sometimes hard to decipher.
Probably the biggest difference between the two editions is the piano accompaniment. Paton's accompaniment is less elaborate and more authentic. Because it often does not double the vocal line, it may be slightly more difficult for less-experienced singers.

All in all, this edition is a must-have for classical singers, voice students, teachers of singing, and vocal coaches.

Nick Jr Sing Along Karaoke Review

Nick Jr Sing Along Karaoke
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One would expect that these Karaokes will simply use the original soundtracks from the show and attach lyrics to it, but it's NOT the case. We own the original Dora soundtracks. Although the tempo of the songs are quite identical, the voices are obviously different, and the lyrics are a little bit off. The high notes are often sung off-key (scary). It may be ok for our 3 year old, but it's such a torture to our church-music-ministry-trained ears, especially when the kids asked to repeat those songs so many times.

Yamaha Trumpet/Cornet Maintenance Kit Review

Yamaha Trumpet/Cornet Maintenance Kit
Average Reviews:

I bought this kit to clean my sons beginner trumpet. I remember doing this with my Cornet when I was his age. My cleaning snake brush seemed a lot better than what I received in this maintenance kit.
Seems like I paid for some cheap brushes and some valve oil and a very small container of valve grease. Oh I forgot the great polishing cloth. wow...what was I thinking. The main thing that I needed was the long snake brush. That was o.k. but not worth $19.99.

American Tapestry Piano Collection Softcover Review

American Tapestry Piano Collection Softcover
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this songbook after previously encountering Joseph Martin through his "Christmas Tapestry" arrangements. These arrangements are beautiful, and often remind me of a blend of Aaron Copeland's "Appalachian Spring" and Debussy. The harmonies are wonderful, and all of the arrangements and the few original compositions are very interesting. The music, when heard, sounds much more difficult than it actually is to play, although your fingers can get quite a workout on a couple of the songs! Martin often likes to put in sections that sound like a harp, and I find these the most difficult to play correctly, but they are definitely worth the effort. There is not a single arrangement that I would not hesitate to play for friends, in church or elsewhere in public, because they are so uplifting and sonorous.

I chose this as my first harmonica, and I got what I paid for. This harmonica broke on the third day. Specifically, the 7th hole would not blow for anything. Don't waste your time. Now I have to get wait and order something else while I was just learning some things. Extremely disappointed.

I found that this light is perfect for a music stand during a performance. Better yet it works great if you have a Kindle from Amazon. It attaches to the top of the Kindle and gives off enough light to see only using one of the arms. Being able to adjust the arms cuts any kind of glare that shows up. A GREAT BUY!!!

Memorex MKS-SS1 SingStand Home Karaoke System Review

Memorex MKS-SS1 SingStand Home Karaoke System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is great fun for the kids. It was easy to set up. There's room for two microphones (it comes with one, but you may buy another), and you can add an electric guitar.
I have a Sansa mp3 player, which connected easily and works well, though it doesn't seat in the mp3 holder well. That might hold an IPOD, but I don't know. It sits, but it's not well-seated and can fall out easily.
The mic volume can be controlled up or down and there are independent switches for each mic, but if the volume of the music is turned down, the mic is also turned down. There is no way to turn the mic volume so it is louder than the music. It is possible to turn the music completely off and sing to nothing.
There is an echo option which can be controlled to allow for more or less echo in the voice.
The vocal eliminator function will eliminate vocals from a track at the touch of a button. The vocals are not completely eliminated and the music is a little distorted, but that is to be expected when eliminating vocals from a track. It is not possible to do without a little distortion. It's a nice feature to have so we don't have to go out and buy a bunch of karaoke music.
The biggest drawback to this karaoke system over others is that it lacks the lyrics display. Of course, when using our regular mp3's, we don't have lyrics anyway; but there is no option of getting lyrics display if we wanted it. I simply go find the lyrics on the internet and print them out.
The kids enjoy this microphone. Sometimes, they don't necessarily use it for singing, but it's a fun system and we will get lots of enjoyment out of it as we have already.
