(More customer reviews)I purchased this book and CD combo while waiting to adopt our little 3 year old girl from China. I was hoping it would create some security for her, hearing her native language amongst such new and strange surroundings, but what I didn't expect was the impact it would have on our whole family! We've had a lot of fun learning to sing the songs! The book has the Chinese characters, the pinyin writing and the English words for each Chinese song. (The English nursery rhymes just have English words.) Before listening, I was afraid the lyrics might be overpowered by the music therefore making it hard to understand. This wasn't the case! The lyrics are very clearly sung with just enough acoustic guitar as background music. This is such a wonderful resource, I'd recommend it to anyone, not just families who have or are going to adopt. It would make a great gift for any family that appreciates culture and open to learning different languages. I only wish there was a set of these!
