"Sunday in Kyoto" is a beautiful collection of children's songs by famed Canadian singer-songwriter Gilles Vigneault. The title song is illustrated with a fantastic and delicate series of whimsical paintings that exactly capture the tone of Vigneault's wonderful song lyrics and music. "Sunday in Kyoto" is a storybook/music CD with as much emphasis on the audio portion of the package as the written and visualized text. In addition to the title song, there are another 14 song-poems performed by Vigneault along with Patrick Watson, Coral Egan, Thomas Hellman, Ndidi O, and Jessica Vigneault. "Sunday in Kyoto" is issued in English beginning October 27. It will enhance the already prestigious reputation of the songwriter Gilles Vigneault, sometimes known as the Pete Seegar of Canada. The Secret Mountain, a publishing company with offices in Montreal and Paris, currently has 11 releases in English, 18 in French, and about half of its releases are available in both languages. All titles are available in two formats; a storybook-music CD, and a digipak CD, a 12 song CD with printable files of original lyrics, illustrations, and music charts. "Sunday in Kyoto" promises to be a great attraction for the age 13 and under crowd and their parents and teachers. A strong multicultural set of influences can be traced in "Sunday in Kyoto" and in other releases of The Secret Mountain, which ultimately multiply its vastly positive teaching impact. Some other titles from The Secret Mountain in this series include "Dream Songs Night Songs ... From Mali to Louisiana," by Patrick Lacoursiere, also "Dream Songs Night Songs... From China to Senegal" by the same author, and "A Duck in New York City" and "A Poodle in Paris" by Connie Kaldor.

The title track "Sunday in Kyoto" tells the story of a Cajun musician who lives with his Japanese partner in Kyoto, enjoying Sunday afternoon jam sessions with friends from far away places. The other songs on the album introduce Joe's mother who snorts like a hog, little Miss Adèle who calls herself "Hello," and a rooster who serves eggs for breakfast. It's zany-crazy and kids will love it!
