The entries read like fascinating short stories--each leaving me more hungry for the next. From beginning to end, I was completely entertained, enlightened and intrigued. There were many moments when I laughed out loud at McAlister's childhood tales and coming-of-age scenarios. In other moments, I was deeply touched, and at times swept away by the romance (i.e. Kisses are the Only Way, One More Sleep) and intense emotions described in his vast experiences of everything from conquering neighborhood bullies and placing wagers as a kid in Vegas to transitioning through career changes and witnessing the collapse of true journalism.

I highly recommend this wonderful collection to anyone who has ever fallen in or out of love or anyone who has ever been frustrated by life's challenges or greatly inspired by life's rewards. The book is a true treasure that has earned a permanent spot on my nightstand. I have already begun reading it again. Kudos to Larry McAlister!
