(More customer reviews)This score of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 9 Op. 70 is hard bound and very nicely laid out in both Russian and English. It is the nineth volume of the New Collected Works Edition. The music is VERY easy to read and well printed . There is a brief history of the symphony and the various editions and errors that have been corrected in the score by Manashir Iakubov.
There is also a Facsimile of some drafts of the symphony in the back.
In his nineth symphony, Shostakovich makes fun of the ideals of a Nineth Symphony (a la Beethoven's legacy) by writing a brief, comical, and "light" work, full of musical puns.
Overall, a great buy and good price.
