This book has 333 melodies from eight to sixteen bars long arranged progressively from very easy in the beginning to somewhat difficult by the end. The first group of melodies contain only DO and RE. From there the next few groups consist of different three or four note groupings of the pentatonic scale until eventually the whole scale is included and the range widens.
I sang through the entire book in about six months while also singing through "The Folk Song Sight Singing Series" books 1-7, and other sight singing methods. 333 Elementary Exercises was helpful for me because many diatonic melodies have pentatonic fragments in them, so this book improved my skills for sight singing various kinds of melodies.
